08:32 am Sooooo we bought our new house.  I gotta be over there this afternoon 'cause there's a guy coming over to hook up the internet (!!!!!!).  Right now I guess I'm kinda in the process of sloooowly moving our stuff in except for the furniture, which can't go in until I get somebody over to re-stretch the carpet.  Other than that, it's a nice little house and everything. Except I can't figure out how to load the dishwasher.  It's really old and confusing!  Like there's not enough space to put dinner plates on the bottom rack?  What gives?  And if I put the plates on the top rack, where do I put the cups?  It's mysterious. Plus there's this whole weird contraption on the bottom rack that I have NO IDEA what I'm supposed to put in it. So I'm currently online researching.  LOL this is so lame. ............ AHA!  I should really send some of this info to my husband, because he persists in putting the silverware business-end down.  Which is WRONG!  I've been telling him this forever, but I never knew the reason why until now ;) ............ Okay I'm starting to get way too into this.  I never expected there to be so many websites explaining how to load a dishwasher! Настроение: optimistic

06:00 am - Awake So I woke up at 5 and couldn't go back to sleep...and Jimmy's gone to work and he won't be back until 9ish tonight, poor guy.  So it's mostly just gonna be me and the baby today.  Maybe I'll go to the store.  Maybe I'll pick up a cheap Little Caesar's pizza for me and Danny for dinner...hm.... So I have a problem.  I'm kinda addicted to Yahoo! Answers.  It's sad but the people on there are so stupid sometimes I just can't help myself.... Anyway we looked at 2 more houses this week.  Blaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh. Настроение: tired

01:35 pm aaargh this house-hunting thing is so frustrating!  Right now we've found 2 houses that we're interested in enough to actually buy, but they both have sort of...issues.  One is a decent house, for an okay price, except it only has 1 bathroom.  Plus there's the option to buy additional 3 or even 11 acres from the same seller, only they're asking way way more per acre than seems right.  Like Jimmy found appraisal records and in 2007 the house +11 acres appraised for less than $150K total.  Now they're asking like $260K for the same thing.  That seem right to you? Anyway we're gonna ask our realtor about that.  I don't like this realtor much either :(.  We've talked to 2 other realtors, but now it looks like we gotta stick with this other one since if we use someone from her company, we get a discount on closing costs with our credit union.  But she's kinda...it's hard to put my finger on it.  She seems just a little eager to justify prices that seem overhigh to me.  And she's not really consistent with her estimates.  One day she's like "yeah I sold property for $5000/acre around here last year" then later she's like "well $10000/acre is about right".  And then when we're like "but $43000 for these 3 acres?" she just kinda says...nothing. So the other house is a bank-owned foreclosure, and I really like the property and the way the house is situated and everything, only there are several (mainly cosmetic) problems with it that we know about, and potentially more that will only be discovered after a professional has been paid to check it out.  And we have a decent amount of cash to pay to get stuff fixed...but only to a point.  It gets a little crazy when you start thinking well...there's something wrong with the septic system that could cost anywhere between $500-20000.  There's a good chance it's on the lower end, but still...eep!  But I really like that house :(.  But not if it's gonna turn into some stinkin money pit!  But still....I could redo it and make it all cute and stuff...and have a stone facade and cedar posts and tile floors and granite countertops and chickens and cows and horses and a happy little tire swing... :P  okay maybe not quite.  /end redneck fantasy Okay I'm gonna go try to find something to obsess about until Jimmy gets off work and I can ask him if he emailed the realtor about stuff. 11:42 am So today I made my first visit to the dentist in...a long, long time. Probably more than 5 years but so long I don't even remember my last visit. So I went with dread in my heart. As it turned out, I am in need of 5 fillings/filling replacements, 2 of which are in the same tooth. Which...although not good, is better than I had feared...and cheaper to fix now than it would be to fix a worser problem later on. Also the dentist recommended I get a night guard to treat my emerging TMJ/teeth grinding difficulties. Which...will be a hefty chunk out of my wallet, but I can handle that if it will make my teeth and jaw less sore. And now I can stop having nightmares of Chinese dentists. Настроение: relieved

12:55 pm Spent the morning writing emails, so now I feel accomplished. Also I bought tickets to China this weekend. There's no going back now! Now if I can just manage to learn a little Chinese between now and July. Eep! I'm sorta happy because I managed to get the tickets for about $750 apiece, which isn't bad...considering that the Continental Airlines website is selling those same exact tickets for like $1380 apiece. And it looks like flights to Beijing usually run anywhere from $600-$7000. Unfortunately I couldn't get round-trip tickets because I have no idea when we'll be coming back! Настроение: hungry

08:13 pm - Oh Boy Yeah so Jimmy and I were talking, and we decided that TV shows should start having Quantum Leap episodes. Like, episodes of your favorite drama would have Scott Bakula randomly inserted to replace one of the characters and solve their problems. It would be AWESOME! Настроение: amused

01:35 pm Whee. So Jimmy and I got accepted into the China program thingy. Which, admittedly, isn't unexpected since they'll take almost anyone as long as there's room. So. Now we just have to pay for it. Beijing. July 2nd. Here I come! So, towards that end, I'm off to put one of my paychecks in the bank. Настроение: excited

11:21 am - Still here So. I quit my job day before yesterday and now I actually have time to write stuff. Yesterday was awesome. Well. Mainly I hung out at the apartment and did nothing. I did absolutely nothing, and it was everything that I thought it could be. Then around 4:30 my dad called and he came over and fixed my car. Which had been broken for about 2 and a half weeks. Not a big problem, just something that was hard to fix while I was still working. Poor Jimmy had to drive me to and from work for 2 weeks. So anyway, now I'm free and mobile. But yesterday I couldn't leave the house all day, so I had very few resources in planning any sort of nice Valentine's thing for Jimmy. But he understands, so that's okay. Anyway after my dad fixed the car I hopped in and zoomed to my bellydancing class, arriving only half an hour late. Which is okay, considering that the class is 90 minutes long. Have I mentioned that my bellydancing class is AWESOME? There are only 6 of us in the class, and Jeanette is an entertaining instructor. I'm sad because if I want to take the intermediate class, I have to drive all the way down to UT and find somewhere to park :( So after my class, I went back and Jimmy had cooked me a lovely dinner, mmm with steak, salad and baked potatoes. And chocolate-covered strawberries and brownies and homemade ice cream for dessert. And he bought me a bag of Haribo gummy bears which is the best candy EVER. I'm eating them as we speak. Er. Write. Also he got me a nice card. After that we hung out and watched a movie. So anyway right now I'm updating in an effort not to think of all that other stuff I should be doing. Like um...applying for another job. And going to the grocery store. See, I have all of these grand plans. After the wedding (which is set for June 9th, FYI) Jimmy and I hope to go to China and teach English there for a while. However, I know absolutely nothing about teaching! So, on some good advice from Jessica's mother, I've been considering trying my hand at substitute teaching. But. It's scary! So I was looking at info on that the other day, and I noticed that the an elementary school on Braker is also hiring library clerks, which only requires that you have a high school diploma and be able to type. And it pays $10.64/hour, which is 64 more cents an hour than I was making two days ago. So I was thinking about taking the coward's way out and just applying for that. So now I'm perplexed. Don't know which one to go for, or both. Being a sub would be more interesting, I think. But proportionally more scary. So I dunno! I guess it can't possibly be any worse than the job I just left, though. So there's that. Настроение: chipper

07:50 am So I woke up from a dream, thinking "Cherry Amaretto Cordial". Which used to be one of my favorite kinds of ice cream, next to mint chocolate chip. But I don't even like mint chocolate chip much now, so I guess in theory cherry amaretto cordial should have been promoted to favorite. If they still made it :( Which they don't! I discovered that when I googled it this morning. I had suspected it for a long time. Maybe even knew it and forgot. But it's just as sad now as if I never knew it.
